Not sure what you want to major in? Not to worry! You are not required to declare a major until your sophomore year at St. Bonaventure.

Undeclared Arts and Sciences majors can explore courses in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, bioinformatics, computer science, cybersecurity, criminology, English, engineering physics, environmental studies, health and society, history, international studies, literary publishing and editing, mathematics, modern languages, music, philosophy, physics, psychology, political science, sociology, Spanish, theater, theology, visual arts, and women's studies.

Each A&S student is assigned to an adviser who has demonstrated excellence in advising. Through a partnership with the SBU Student Success Center (SSC) and the SBU Career and Professional Readiness Center (CPRC), our advisers will help incoming students plan for their future by exploring how their interests and aptitudes mesh with a college major. You will meet with your advisor, a career counselor, and faculty members so that you can find the area in Arts and Sciences that makes the most sense for you.

Are you interested in business but unsure what area of the field you want to pursue? The Undeclared Business major will introduce you to the world of business.

The School of Business allows students who are interested in business, but unsure what particular area they want to pursue, the opportunity to start classes and explore their options.

As an Undecided Business major, you will take the same business core courses required of all business majors. The business core classes begin first semester and provide an early opportunity to explore many different business areas, such as accounting, economics, finance, sports management and marketing.

As you explore each introductory course and increase your business knowledge you’ll begin to uncover your interests, strengths and talents, enabling you to make an informed decision on which business major is a best fit. Your dedicated business faculty adviser will also help you decide what specific major best suits your interests and career goals.

Along with coursework, student organizations are a great way to explore business paths. Students with an Undeclared Business major are encouraged to take part in several clubs and organizations within the School of Business, such as:

• Students in Money Management (SIMM)
• Management Club
• Marketing Club
• Bonaventure Accounting Association
  

Students must declare a particular field of concentration before the end of the sophomore year. However, within the School of Business, we encourage students to select a major by end of freshman year.

As an Undeclared Communication major, you can explore journalism, social and digital media, broadcasting, advertising, corporate communication, public relations, sports media, video production, media studies and more.

Undeclared Communication majors take courses that are required for all of the majors in the Jandoli School and make progress to their degree while figuring out the right specialty. The Jandoli School offers majors in Broadcast Journalism, Journalism, Media Studies, Sports Media, Strategic Communication, Video Production, and Communication, Social Justice and Advocacy.
